Time Magazine has put a lot of their photos online, available through
Google. There’s a series of photos taken in July 1958 by Stan Wayman.
The photos are labelled “mother giving birth under hypnosis”! It’s
pretty cool.

Oh my! Some of those are a little frightening! The mom looks happy, but she is strapped down so firmly and completely that the nurse has to lift her head for her so she can see her own baby! 🙁 That jangled me a little! How far we’ve come, eh?
It is true, it really is pretty weird to see the moms strapped down for a vaginal delivery. Indeed we have come a long way from that. Thank goodness!
