Dads Versus Doulas

The big showdown is about to go down!

Who is more important to have at your birth –

Dad or Doula?

Well, luckily it isn’t really a contest at all.

Dads and Doulas can work hand in hand and provide joint support to help you have the best birth possible.

Dads are perfect at

  • knowing how to love You
  • knowing what makes you feel safe and calm
  • knowing how to support and encourage you
  • along with so many other great things!

Doulas are perfect at

  • knowing about birth
  • knowing and sharing the pros and cons of different options you will be offered
  • knowing what a birthing mom look like
  • knowing and implementing tips and ideas to help you move easily through your birthing time

Together they make a great team for you.

It allows Dad to get a bathroom break, knowing you are in good hands.  It allows Dad to focus on Mom and not have to remember all the other things.

Doulas help Dads too!

I know when we had our 3rd baby, our first with a doula.  My husband asked after, “Why didn’t we have a doula each time!!!????”  HE loved having one as much as I did.

A great chart I love to share which shows how Dads and Doulas compliment each other is here.
