Does mothering have to equal worrying?

Something I never considered before I got pregnant was how much I would worry for the rest of my life.

“Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.” – Elizabeth Stone

Somehow this worrying starts before we even give birth and can continue, apparently FOREVER. That is comforting.

Through discussions with many other moms, I realize it is normal to have worries and fears, because we love the little things we have created!

Worrying all the time can make mothering stressful and is actually not helpful to our children either.  It is especially important to not make decisions based on those fears!

How can you parent with courage and faith instead of fear?

Here are some posts I have done in the past looking at how you can do that.  (Most focus on birth issues, but can be easily applied for parenting after you baby is born too!)

A lot is based on your perception of a situation.  Are Scary Things Really Scary?

Here is a spiritual perspective, on how it is often the unknown of something that makes us fearful of it.  Letting go of Fears:  A Spiritual Perspective

How our state of mind can effect perceptions.

Our Intuition is Key

After mothering for 13 years, I have come to really depend upon my intuition to help me make decisions and really trusting in that has helped me to worry less.

How can you DO this? I share my favorite resource on my Turning Worry INTO Intuition post.

I talk about another inspirational resource on my Motherhood-Trust Your Intuition post and I also share one of the first times I really trusted my intuition as a mother.  It may have very well saved Thing 2’s life.

It is normal to worry, but we can trump worry by using our intuition.  Sure we will still make our kids wear a sweater when we are cold*, but we don’t have to worry about everything, which will make motherhood a lot more enjoyable!
