Preemie – Breastfeeding Break Through

1/16/98

He weighs 4 pounds 10 oz.  He is growing nicely.  Dr. E says I should just breastfeed him for a week and come back in for a weight check.  (I am so thrilled she suggested this, it seemed like cold turkey after supplementing him, but I did it and he did fine!  I can only imagine had I kept supplementing it could have led to breastfeeding problems.  Knowing what I know now, I feel it is a small miracle he did so well with breastfeeding, seeing as he didn’t even latch on until day 9.  I feel so blessed that it did work so well.  I had problems nursing T3, but that is a story for another day!)

It is OK for Adam to come and visit.  She was so cute about answering.  I said, “Rob has a little brother is it OK if he comes to visit?”  She looked at Rob and said, “Do you like your brother?”  Yes.  “Then he can come.”
