Strive to Be Lazy

I actually mostly love the newborn stage, I think because I see it as a 6 week period where I have a good excuse to be lazy.

  • It is OK if my house is a mess.
  • It is OK if my kids watch TV nonstop.
  • It is OK if I feed them Spaghetti Os every day.
  • It is OK if I don’t shower for 2 days.
  • It is OK if all I do is sit on the sofa and nurse a baby all day long.

I embrace that and really revel it in.  My DH says nothing and tries to be super helpful.  My older kids love the freedom they so rarely have.  I just sit and enjoy the baby.

It doesn’t make it perfect

  • Yes it is exhausting.
  • Yes I cry sometimes.
  • Yes it can be challenging.

But it makes it easier!

But because I lower my standards about everything else, it makes it so much easier!

Sharing is caring!

  1. Thank you! This is helpful, and I’ll need to remember to do it. (expecting #2 in August)

  2. Love it! It’s OK! But I’ll still need help remembering that in October… since I’m the wanna get-up and take action kind of girl…

  3. Congrats on having a baby! Well, we must enjoy these little luxuries while we can! 🙂

  4. That perfectly describes my last 7 weeks and maybe even a few more, we are so relaxed and happy! This is quite different to my first born, I wish I had read this back then.

  5. This couldn’t be more timely… my 4th baby is now 11 days old, and I am in the throes of hormones and feeling overwhelmed… but I know it will pass, and I wouldn’t trade my sweet nugget of a baby for anything right now.

    Thank you for posting!
