Wednesday night the 29th I got a call and soon after headed out for my last birth of 2010. My 10th birth I attended as a doula this year.
This didn’t surprise me and it also made me laugh!
Why?
GOALS!
I am a BIG believer in setting goals. When I was in college one of my hallmates said, “It is so weird. Sheridan writes something down, hangs it on her wall and then it happens.”
Well, the beginning of each year I write down our goals. Family, personal, birth.
One of our family goals was
-Buy New TV and Entertainment Center.
Well when we started at the Waldorf Charter school, that goal seemed silly as we were really cutting back on media usage. So I decided we don’t need that goal.
Sadly our TV broke the week before Christmas, necessitating needing a new TV. I am all for just keeping the small TV we have upstairs and not having one downstairs. But Rob says, “One of the few pleasures in my life is watching movies on my big screen TV.” So who am I to deny him that?
So in the craziness of the holidays we have to squeeze in TV and Entertainment Center shopping. I hate shopping in December.
Well I had set a birth goal in Jan. to attend 10 births this year. So when I got the call I wasn’t surprised, just happy. 🙂 It was a great birth. If mom says it is OK, I will post the details later.
