I am posting this on my Birth Blog, because I chose to organize my office, where I physically blog from! I decided to do I’m an Organizing Junkie’s 28 Day Organizational Challenge.
1. What was the hardest part of the challenge for you and were you able to overcome it?
I was wondering how I was going to actually get this accomplished because I was going to be out of town a whole week in February and had about 4 other big projects I was working on.
What helped me the most was that I told my husband and he got excited about it and TOTALLY helped me get it done.
Here was my office before:
2. Tell us what kind of changes/habits you have put into place in order for your area/room to maintain its new order?
I think reorganizing the room has really helped with this. Since the printer is on the file cabinet, I can’t cover it with other things. Since the U part of the desk isn’t sticking out in the middle of the room, it doesn’t attract the boys toys as much. B used to play on the table with his toys while I worked and would leave them there. Now he has a big open space on the floor and plays there, it is more obvious there are toys there and I make him put them away!
3. What did you do with the “stuff” you were able to purge out of your newly organized space?
Most of it went in the garbage!
4. What creative storage solutions were you able to introduce in order to create additional space as well as establish some limits and boundaries?
I used smaller containers to help me organize the shelves in the closet. I also have a wheeled box container which I now have the materials I need to bring to Hypnobabies class and it is easy to wheel to my car and then to class. It is parked in the closet between classes.
So, since my hubby helped, he was busy rearranging the furniture, fixing the boys computer so it could stand on its side (giving us more room on top of their computer desk) while I went through the closet and other things and threw a BUNCH out! Here is our NEW office.
Overall, I am SO happy that we did this challenge. It was FUN to do it with my DH. It was a fun activity for a rainy Saturday.
5. Why do you think you should win this challenge?
Really I think my DH should win this challenge, because he really made a huge difference by helping us brainstorm different furniture locations and then moving everything, he even hung up pictures the next day! I did a lot of work, but if I had left the furniture in the same place, I don’t think we could have kept it decluttered!
So nice! A clear desk makes me happy! 🙂
Great Job! Your office looks nice.
Woohoo! Great job!
that must have been alot of work. great job!
You and your DH did a wonderful job. It looks so nice and tidy now.
