iPhone Birth Announcement App Review

I saw this fun app and contacted the designer to see if I could review her app.  She gave me a free sample so I could play around with it.

I decided to do the It’s a Girl one so I could send it to my DH and freak him out.  🙂

The app is really easy to use.  Just a few steps are needed.

1.  Choose which app you want.  (There are a lot of choices! From It’s a Girl to It’s a Nephew and everything in between)

2.  Download the app.  (That is easy)

3.  Fill in the information (Baby’s name, size, date of birth, etc)

4. Take picture or choose one from your camera roll.

5.  Send (This one took some extra steps for me, as it sends it through your e-mail you have set up with your iPhone and I didn’t have that set up, because I just check g-mail online.  So know you need to have your e-mail set up on your iPhone for this app to work.  I figure this won’t be a big deal for most, but wanted to point it out.)

6.  Wait for worried phone call from your spouse, because they are not expecting such an announcement!  Or in your case get many wonderful congratulations responses!

Overall I would say this is a fun app.  The only drawback I see is that if you thought you were having a girl so you pre-buy the It’s a Girl App, but you have a boy!  But since it is so easy to buy and only 1.99, you can order the right one after you have the baby and are sure of the sex.  (Edited to add, the creator of the App updated things, so that the It is a Boy also has It is a Girl label and vice verse for the It’s a Girl App)

Dawn has lots of information on her site, including step by step instructions for those who need a little extra help!  However it is so easy to navigate I think most won’t need any extra help.

Sharing is caring!

  1. Sheridan,
After our email conversations, I decided to add the caption “Its a Boy!” to my ItsAGirl! app. This way if you do end up with a different sex than what you were expecting, you can use a non pink background and still announce “It’s a Boy!”. Several of the backgrounds are not gender specific, but most of the captions will still be geared to a little girl. The update should be out fairly soon. I will do the same to the ItsABoy!

    Thank you,
    Dawn

  2. Interesting, thanks for that. My son has a total aversion to eating raw fruit for some reason, so I make the fruit into smoothies for him and then he loves it! I also found some great smoothie recipe here and thought I’d share – lots of other great ideas there.
