Preemie Journal – The Ending and the Beginning

It is interesting how short my entries become and how they start to spread out.  There is a lot less time to write when you have a baby to take care of all day.  It is much more fun to take care of my baby!

Grandma, Jorgeen and Adam came to visit today.  It was a long day for Rob.  He went to church.  His mom stayed til 7:30.  Then he had to work from home.  Poor guy is SO tired and hasn’t had a lot of time to get to know T1.

T1 sleeps great during the day and not so well at night.

My mom’s birthday!  Went to well baby check at St. Jo’s.  I was mostly interested in seeing how much weight he gained.  He is almost 4lbs 13oz.  The nurse also watched me breastfeed.  She said he eats well!

He slept in our bed last night and did really well.  We will have to do this for awhile.  I need the sleep too.  It is also so sweet to see him laying there.  I figure normally he’d still be inside of me.  So it makes sense to keep him close.

This is where T1’s newborn journal ends, but not my journey in mothering him.

It has been a challenging and fun 13 years.  He experienced some developmental delays for the first few years, whether from birth trauma or prematurity we will never know for sure.  I am grateful for early intervention therapies that have helped him make great strides.  If you met him today you wouldn’t even notice that he had issues!  He is a funny, smart teenager and a joy to have around.

I think we both had emotional issues we had to deal with stemming from his birth and probably his NICU stay.  But we have dealt with those using energy therapy and it helped us both so much.

Sharing is caring!
