*sigh* feeding my 2yo is the most dreaded event of the day. After a FALSE failure to thrive diagnosis when he was 12 months, we went through numerous traumatizing tests, and were counseled by a Stanford nutritionalist to “increase calories, and feed him whatever he wants.” Now I am left with a (still skinny) kid who will eat only chicken nuggets, spaghetti, goldfish crackers and cereal with the occasional bagel or waffle.
Against all my mommy intuition, I followed the doctors instruction and in doing so, I taught my son that he can refuse what is offered and expect that we will make him something else.
I am desperate for ideas and suggestions. Meal times turn into battles/power struggles and I am tired of it. The bullet points you listed sound like they would offer some much needed help to our eating routine. (Six Tips for Developing Healthy Eating Habits
The 10 Times Rule for Toddlers, Converting Picky Eaters, DOs and DON’Ts to Avoid Food Battles, & Making the Most of Your Child’s Day).I think some new recipes that he can help prepare may give us a jump start in expanding his small list of meal options!
(i also posted this give-away on 2 email lists and 1 discussion board, your added to my google reader rss and liked on fb!)
I would love to win this book. I think the tips in this book could be helpful for my 3 year old, since she often refuses to eat dinner, etc. I make homemade purees, but my 11 month old is now in the “refusing baby food” stage, and this age is always kind of hard to figure out WHAT to feed them without buying costly, manufactured “toddler food” with long ingredients list, which is tough with my son who I think has some food allergies/sensitivities, so if I can make it, I know what’s in it. This books sounds like it could be really helpful for us.
I already follow your RSS and “like” your blog on facebook. I blogged about your giveaway and posted about it on a bulletin board as well!
