I was reading a birth story and chuckling to myself when my 12 year old asked what was funny.
I told him something was funny in the birth story I was reading.
He asked what.
I said, “Do you really want to know?”
He said he did.
I told him that a baby was born so fast the mucus plug was stuck on his head.
“Mom, that’s not funny. That is Creepy!”
I had what I thought was a funny mucous plug story this last birth (#7). I was having contractions on a Saturday morning, and one of my kids had a basketball game that day. The contractions had been going all night, and I thought I was going to have the baby that day. After hours of 7 minutes (or so) contractions, they just slowed in time to go to the game. I decided to take a shower, and got dressed. While on the toilet before we left, I had bloody mucous on the tp and lost some of the plug. I thought I flushed it, and put a pad in my underwear and pulled up my jeans. It was time to go, so I went to the kitchen to get a few last minute drink bottles together. I had to stand on a chair to get to them, and one of my girls said, “mommy, what is that thing on your pants? It looks like a big bugger.” I was appalled, knowing the mucous plug had made it’s way to the backside of my jeans somehow. I quickly went upstairs to take care of that! I managed to get through the game and the day, and had my 7th born the next morning. I shared the story with my midwife while I was in labor…knowing that they don’t really care about mucous plugs but it is one of my most embarrassing moments. So glad I didn’t go to the game like that!
That is hilarious and a great mucus plug story! 🙂
