I loved reading Missy’s story of her VBAC.
Part 1: The Waiting Game
Part 2: The Birth Pool
Part 3: Perfectly Different
Missy said this about using Hypnobabies for her VBAC
I just wanted to add that although I had planned on using all of my Hypnobabies techniques, that when the time came I really didn’t use the ones I thought I would. My body wanted me to move the entire time (he was most likely posterior and I was having back discomfort) and so I never got around to turning off my light switch. This really worried me during early labor, but I remember reading in the book that one of the options during your birthing time is to just do what your body wants and that was the perfect choice for me.
I think that I still greatly benefited from Hypnobabies because it helped build a foundation of trust with my body and my ablility to birth, as well as concentrating on only positive thoughts and pictures my entire pregnancy. Especially with this being a VBAC I really needed that, and I know it helped me so much.
I also found the cues like “peace” and “open” to be so helpful as the release cue with my husband touching my shoulder or forehead.Although I never was able to turn off my light switch I think that all of my practice of relaxing helped me to relax well during my birthing time and in between pressure waves. Being able to trust my body and relax made this birth a very calm and peaceful one.
Thanks for sharing your inspirational story. 🙂
