I joined Twitter a few months ago and I have been trying to figure out
- How it works?
- What is the point?
- What do to with it?
- How to keep up with it?
- Is this for me personally or for helping spread birth joy?
It has been a journey and I am starting to get it.
I started with Twittermom – which is fun and helps me learn about quite a few of the blog challenges I have done.
I joined Socialoomph, which helped me to automatically follow people back and send automatic message to new followers, which has led to some interesting and unnecessary connections. I now need to weed through some of my people.
Last night I joined HootSuite – This is the thing that I think is going to make it all work for me! I can see twitter and facebook all in one place. 🙂
I got something out of it – I got a tweet that a cool app I wanted to check out was free this weekend!
I helped make a difference – The coolest thing is I made a difference! I did a search for breastfeeding tweets. I found this:
I Know breastfeeding is natural. But please dont do it at a restaurant. Go to the BATHROOM.
I was kind of scared because I didn’t know her, I just found her randomly through a search, but I sent her this message.
Breastfeeding is natural and it is best if moms can do it anywhere, even restaurants! http://wp.me/p11Uzw-OB
I was nervous, would she say something back, would she be mad? I was thrilled to get this response.
thank you for sharing. I think ill change my view about it.
YAY! I made a difference, using Twitter. There is one more person in the world who will smile at a nursing mom instead of glaring! 🙂
Good for you for politely standing up for what you believe is right! I haven’t joined Twitter yet. I’m still a little frightened of the time commitment.
