One of my favorite L&D Nurses blog recently posted about how many cesarean moms they had recovering in postpartum. Over 50%. Wow, that is so sad.
She also wondered would the ACOG new announcement really make any difference?
I am here to tell you that for one mom it DID!
At my 36 week appointment this week, the doctor informed me that our hospital had two VBAC meetings this past week and that they have reversed their prior decision not to do VBAC’s.
My second child was the last VBAC the hospital has allowed and that was almost three years ago (they changed the VBAC policy 2 days after she was born).
They were planning to allow me to labor during the day if I was induced via AROM, but now I can come in after hours during my birthing time (thank you ACOG). How timely!
The doctor thanked us for pushing the VBAC issue as she said they would not have changed anything had we not.
When we 1st found out we were pregnant our Dr. said we would have to drive 2 hours away to a hospital in a bigger city. Apparently they have not had moms that have chosen to do that. We were prepared to drive. I really liked our rural hospital for my 1st two births. We know the entire OB floor it seems.
Our Dr. has been such an advocate for us. She has really been the one to push the hospital to change. Over 30% c-section rate is just ridiculous and not good for most. So glad not to have to worry about what we will do anymore.
