  1. I have had PUPPS now for the second pregnancy and this time I have found thea Emu Oil works wonderful. as well as dandilion root capsules.

When I had PUPPS, I took several cool baths everyday with Aveeno Shower and Bath Oil. It had a calming effect on the really red inflamed areas of my skin.

Also, instantaneous relief came from putting oatmeal in a cheesecloth tied with a twist tie, and then running the oatmeal under tepid water. I would take the oatmeal and press it on my skin where the itching was unbearable. I couldn’t believe how calming this was.

At night, I would have the “blue gel” cold packs ready in the freezer for my legs. The itching would be so bad, I would lay the cold packs on my thighs, in order to sleep.

During the day, I found that SARNA lotion, an over the counter lotion that contained menthol was very southing. My pregnancy was in the winter (thankfully) and we had the thermostat set at 65 degees. Even at that temperature, I ran around in a short sleeved shirt and shorts, or less than that. Only once, when using the SARNA lotion did I put on a long sleeved sweater the entire pregnancy. If I had been pregnant in the summer, as with my other 2 boys, I would have never made it.

Ultimately, 2 weeks before my son was born, my doctor prescribed predniazone (sp?) steroids and it was only somewhat helpful. My son was born 4 weeks premature and I was so thankful. Only a few people knew how bad my skin looked and, but it was no secret as to how tortured I was. There is no way to hide the misery when you can’t sleep and your skin stings all the time. Anyone who has had this knows the anguish I am speaking of.

  3. Yes, I learned the hard way. I started with taking a cold bath and then using the shower head with steaming hot water to hit my body wear it itched most. For some reason it felt soothing, but after an hour I would go back to itching and scratching insanely. My doc prescribed me a topical steriod which makes my skin so tough that its hard to even scratch when it itches. The itching has gone down a lot though. And using cold compress packs are really helping me get some type of relaxation.

  4. My fourth baby is five months old and last night my stomach broke out in a rash and it is on the front and inner part of my thighs. (I had this with my very first pregnancy several years ago, and remember then how horrible it was.) It is driving me crazy! I am using organic shea butter on the rash areas which has cleared it up completely. In less than two hours. I have heard nettles tea helps. I maybe running out to get that also; if need. I have started back on my green smoothies so I am hoping this will help also since I have heard that this is caused due to a liver issue/needs to be cleansed.
