Stop the Birth, I Want to get OFF!

teacup ladiesMy friend Brittany wrote this great post about a vomit filled ride at a carnival.   It sounds gross, but the story is great.  I loved it so much I am actually going to blog about it twice, so go ahead and read it.

You know the Tilt A Whirl Rides?  Have you ever wanted to get off?  Have you ever yelled for them to stop it?

even though every time you go by you plead with them to SSTTooopp TTHHHe RRIIIdddeee!!! But of course they only hear ST… TH… RI….

Sometimes moms feel that way during birth.

Some moms sail through the whole birth and just keep on going.

But sometimes a mom will say, “I think I’ll have the baby tomorrow instead.”

They want the ride to stop for a little bit.  Catch their breath, rest and then keep going.

Or maybe just let someone else birth the baby for them.

Well, we can’t stop birth.

All we can do is keep on going until the ride is over.  Having good support by your side can make it more fun, or at the least more manageable.

The good thing is if a mom feels this way, the ride is almost over.  So just keep holding on and know that you CAN do it!

  1. Have you ever had a mom say she wants to have the baby later, and then actually stop laboring? I’ve heard it can happen but never heard a first hand account. Curious!

  2. Ha! I TOTALLY felt this way toward the end of my birth. I distinctly remember saying, “Okay, I can’t do it anymore. I really don’t think I can.” Then, I started crying…and I remembered my midwife telling me that as soon as it gets so hard I don’t think I can go on anymore, it’s almost over. And it was! My daughter was born a few pushes later. 🙂
