CNN talks about how Joy did have her vaginal birth on December 5th. This demonstrates that VBAC can be safe for many moms. It also shows the sad state that women’s rights to choice regarding birth is in.
It is sad that this mom have to go to lengths like moving to a new city 3 weeks before she was due in order to have a chance to birth vaginally.
Moms should have the right to have a vaginal birth after cesarean if that is what they want after being made aware of the risks.
I think the best thing that came out of this situation is national awareness was made of the issue. Also Joy is a great example of how while it may mean making hard choices a mom can assert her birthing rights!

I just really bristle at the title though. While she got a vaginal birth, Joy did NOT get “the birth she wanted,” and as you say, it is sad what lengths she had to go to in order to get a vaginal birth. I discussed this more on my blog.
